Assistant Professor & Head in the Department of Social Work, Guru Nanak College(Autonomous), Chennai since 2018. She is a University Gold Medalist in Master of Social Work, Bharathidasan University. Her Specialization is Medical & Psychiatric Social Work. She had experience in rendering counseling services to children and their families at the Child Guidance Center, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. She worked as Assistant Professor & Assistant Research Coordinator in Madurai Institute of Social Sciences, Madurai. She has participated and presented 21 scientic papers in various National and Inte ational Conferences and published 15 articles in Inte ational, National Jou als and in edited books. She is trained in “Counselling and Psychotherapy†at Anugraha institute for Counselling and Psychotherapy, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu . Life member in Indian Society of Professional Social Work (ISPSW). She served as an Exte al Examiner for eld work Viva voce Examination. She is a Member of Institutional Ethical Committee at Meenakshi Ammal Dental College & Hospital, Chennai.
Synopsis & Scholarly Abstract
In the introductory Chapter, the Researcher has made an attempt to describe the concept of street children, problems faced by street children, care and protection, institutionalization of children, problems faced by institutionalized street children, their psychosocial problems, their experience of emotional disturbances, academic-related problems, problems with peers and care takers, prosocial behaviour, self esteem and mental health, theoretical perspective, psychosocial cares, relevance of social work and rationale for selecting the institution for better understanding of the study.
